Canadian Experience Class

The Canadian Experience Class allows international students and temporary foreign workers with at least 12 months of full-time Canadian work experience (1560 hours) or an equivalent part-time experience (1560 hours) within the last 3 years to become permanent residents of Canada.

To be able to qualify for Canadian Experience Class program in Canada, you would need to:

  • Have gained qualified Canadian skilled work experience in one of the National Occupation Classification job groups while under Temporary residence status with authorization to work:
    • Managerial Jobs (Skill type 0)
    • Professional Jobs (Skill Level A)
    • Technical Jobs and skilled trades (skill Level B)
  • Take approved language test in English or French and score a minimum of CLB 7 for NOC 0 or A jobs or CLB 5 for NOC B jobs
  • Be admissible in Canada
  • Show that you have enough funds to support yourself and your family to settle in Canada unless you are currently able to legally work in Canada or have a valid job offer from an employer in Canada
  • Intend to live outside the province of Quebec

Educational Requirements

You are not eligible for CEC if:

  • You are a refugee claimant in Canada
  • You are working without authorization
  • Your work experience was gained without temporary resident status in Canada
