Provincial Nominee Program

Canada’s Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) offer a pathway for individuals, who are interested in immigrating to a specific province or territory, for Canadian Permanent Residence.

These programs focus on individuals who have the skills, education, language capabilities and work experience required for the economic growth for the province or territory.

Each Canadian province or territory has its own Provincial Nominee program often known as a stream. Through these streams, these provinces and territories nominate individuals who are interested in living in that province and possess the skills that would help to strengthen the province’s economy.

There are two ways to apply for PNPs

Process Flow (Paper based process) :

Apply under Non-Express Entry stream

Province or territory agrees to nominate the candidate

Accept the nomination from the province or territory

Submit PR application to IRCC

Await final decision on PR

Process Flow (Express Entry process):

Apply for expression of interest under Express Entry stream

Link Express Entry profile with PNP application

Province or territory agrees to nominate the candidate

Accept Notification of interest from province or territory

Submit PR application to IRCC with Nomination certificate

The processing time of Express Entry Stream is lower than that of paper-based process.

There are more than 80 provincial nominee programs across the 13 provinces and territories in Canada.
